Job summary
PCSS Contractors has continued to grow in project controls and scheduling services, offering comprehensive range of services tailored to meet the diverse needs of our clients, looking for a sr. Planning engineer to join consulting team that will be responsible of the development, coordination and implementation of project master schedules including but not limited to planning, programming, construction method preparation, logistic planning for fabrication and construction projects.
Duties and responsibilities
- Establish project master programs (schedules) for projects in bidding, pre-construction, and construction phases.
- Analyze project documentation to determine required activities, sequences, delivery strategies and critical paths in close collaboration with various operational teams (including design, fabrication, and project operations teams).
- Establish detailed construction program and other short-term programs in conjunction with project team as required, ensuring they comply with master schedule.
- Develop and maintain cost schedule status reports (CSSR) and other financial tracking using data from the project schedule.
- Assist with planning of project resources through development of manpower loading of activities.
- Provide strong guidance to ensure that the schedules are developed in a logical and executable manner.
- Clearly communicate schedule requirements to various design, fabrication, and installation teams.
- Monitor project progress, including procurement, design, fabrication, and construction activities and maintain clear records of progress, tracked against initial baseline requirements.
- Compile and analyze data prepared by various project participants to track progress, using tools such as commodity curves, earned-value analysis, etc.
- Prepare monthly progress reports for submission to clients and other project participants to communicate project performance against the master schedule.
- Identify as early as possible tasks which will take longer than originally planned and propose corrective actions to meet original program.
- Clearly communicate any areas of schedule concern to upper management immediately.
- Prepare and analyze impacts relating to potential cost and time extension claims, creating relevant documentation to support any claim submissions.
- Prepare and utilize historical data to determine accurate productivity rates for use in future projects.
Skills and qualifications
- Computer proficiency is a must, be familiar with MS office, MS- project, and primavera p6.
- Experience with 4d planning instruments such as synchro & BIM integration will be an advantage.
- Familiar with construction materials and methods, and industry best practices.
- Ability to work autonomously and under pressure, with a sense of urgency, to meet constant deadlines.
- Great sense of responsibility and good leadership skills.
- Well organized, with an ability to prioritize, with good time management skills.
- Strong team player and good interpersonal skills.
- Well versed of English, both in verbal and written.
Education and experience requirements
- Degree holder in engineering or construction field or related discipline.
- Excellent planning and scheduling techniques, such as work breakdown structure, working methodologies and resources management.
- At least 10 years’ experience in scheduling, preferably previous experience with foreign engineering companies, working on large industrial projects with minimum 5 years in developing master program schedule.
- Extensive training in scheduling software primavera P6 and Microsoft project software.
- Excellent user of power BI, excel and risk analysis tools.
